Woman's New Life Clinic is a life-affirming counseling and medical clinic that serves women facing unplanned pregnancies in the Greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.
As many of you know, I'm active on the St. Patrick Respect Life Committee. Last Fall, I toured the Woman's New Life Clinic and was impressed with the work that they are doing in BR: The clinic has two ultrasound technicians, a nurse practitioner, and other support personnel. They provide medical help as well as formula, diapers, medicine, car seats, playpens, and other needs. Often, a woman in a crisis pregnancy is the sole support for several young children, so the needs of those children are also met when possible. Most impressive is that the clinic has a contract with an agency that provides after-hours phone support. The purpose of the 24/7 support is to provide necessary (and time-sensitive) support for women who have taken the abortion pill or who are experiencing medical trauma due to the abortion pill.
The Born to Run annual events are the main fundraisers for WNLC. The clinics are under the umbrella of the Catholic Diocese of BR and the Archdiocese of NO and follow Catholic principles, but receive no funds from either institution. The clinics (BR and NO) operate on fundraising alone. Eighty percent (80%) of WNLC funds are for operations/programs at WNLC. WNLC director, Allison Daigle, assured me that "countless hours of work go into ensuring that the staff at WNLC are good stewards of every one of our donors’ dollars." Allison suggests visiting the website: www.womansnewlife.com/donate to see the cost of WNLC services for women.
Any and all donations go far in helping vulnerable women and their families. Please join me today in this worthwhile venture. Support WNLC, every little bit helps!
