Woman's New Life Clinic is a life-affirming counseling and medical clinic that serves women facing unplanned pregnancies in the Greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.
I'm active on the St. Patrick Respect Life Committee. I recently went on a tour of the Women's New Life Clinic and was impressed with the clinic and the work that they are doing in BR and NO. They were busy on the day that I visited. The clinic has two ultrasound technicians, a nurse practitioner, and other support personnel. They provide medical help as well as formula, diapers, medicine, car seats, playpens, and other needs. Often, a woman in a crisis pregnancy is already the sole support for several young children, so the needs of those children are also met when possible.
Most impressive is that the clinic has a contract with an agency that provides after hours phone support. The purpose of the 24/7 support provides necessary (and time-sensitive) support for women who have taken the abortion pill or who are experiencing medical trauma due to the abortion pill. Abortion pills are mailed in regular USPS mail, usually from Mexico or other foreign countries, and arrive with no medical instructions or contact numbers. I have seen packaging from a recent delivery of the abortion pill. There were three plastic bags labeled 1, 2, and 3 in the envelope; no other information was provided. What the mother may not know is that pill 1 (Mifepristone) deprives the fetus of necessary nutrients and induces death. Pills 2 and 3 (Misoprostol) taken immediately after the Mifepristone or up to 48 hours later cause contractions and eliminate the fetus from the uterus. The mother is left to fend for herself in a process that is dangerous and frightening.
I hope that you will join me in supporting the Woman's New Life Clinic. Any contribution is greatly needed and appreciated.
