2026 Hayfield Hustle in-person race is CANCELLED, join us VIRTUALLY in support of New Pond Farm Education Center
In light of predicted strong, gusty winds and heavy rain under the advisement of the Redding Police Department and the Department of Emergency Management, we have decided to CANCEL this year's IN PERSON race. In an abundance of caution and with the safety of all participants and volunteers in mind, we invite you to participate virtually: run your race after the storm in your neighborhood, at the park, or even on a treadmill in support of New Pond Farm Education Center and wear your finishers medal with pride!
If you choose the virtual option, please come pick up your swag at the farmhouse on Tuesday, September 29th or Thursday, October 1st from 4-7PM.
If you would like to keep your registration as a donation to New Pond Farm, no action is required.
If you would prefer a refund, please reach out to us by Friday, October 2nd at info@newpondfarm.org
Here Are Your Options:
Event Update
Dear Hayfield Hustle Participants,
At the direction of the Redding Police Department and the Department of Emergency Management, the Hayfield Hustle scheduled for Saturday, September 26, has been canceled due to the active National Weather Service advisory and anticipated inclement weather.
The cancellation includes the Children’s Sap Run, the 5K and 5-Mile races, and all post-race activities. There will be no race-related activities at New Pond Farm tomorrow.
We know how many of you have trained, made plans, and looked forward to gathering with us. We are deeply disappointed, but the safety and well-being of our runners, families, volunteers, staff, and community must come first.
Below is important information about the virtual race, race material pickup, donations, and refunds.
Complete Your Race Virtually
All registered participants are invited to complete their chosen distance virtually whenever and wherever it is safe and convenient to do so.
Please do not run the original Hayfield Hustle course tomorrow. There will be no police detail, road closures, course marshals, water stations, or other race support in place. Please wait until conditions have improved and choose a safe alternative route.
We would love to see photos from your run! Feel free to tag New Pond Farm Education Center or share your pictures with us so we can celebrate your accomplishment from afar.
Race Material Pickup
Participants who allow New Pond Farm to retain their registration fee may pick up their race bibs, medals, shirts, and swag bags on either of the following dates:
Tuesday, September 29, from 4:00–7:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 1, from 4:00–7:00 p.m.
Pickup will take place at the Farmhouse at New Pond Farm, near the Dairy Annex.
Please note that participants who request a refund will not be eligible to receive race materials.
Donate Your Registration
If you are in a position to do so, we hope you will consider allowing New Pond Farm to retain your registration fee as a donation.
Many event expenses—including permits, race materials, equipment, and safety preparations—have already been incurred and cannot be recovered. Your donation would help cover these commitments while preserving resources for our educational programs, animal care, and stewardship of our 102-acre property.
No action is required if you would like to donate your registration fee. We would be deeply grateful for your support, but we completely understand if requesting a refund is the right choice for you.
Request a Refund
Refunds will not be issued automatically. To request one, please email info@newpondfarm.org no later than Friday, October 2.
Please include the registered participant’s name, the email address used to register, and the registration order number, if available. We will process requested refunds as promptly as possible.
Thank you for registering for the Hayfield Hustle and for your understanding as we navigate this unexpected cancellation. We are grateful to have you as part of the New Pond Farm community and hope to welcome you back to the farm soon.
With gratitude,
Priya Desai
