By now you're used to seeing these fundraisers come from me every recent year. Any, by now, you may know that I did this race for he first time on a whim with my friend and police colleague, Stuart Ashley, in 1994. Back in those days, we'd drive down the morning of the race, stand in a short line, register, and ride. Now there is competition to enter. Everybody wants to race against their peers, themselves, the clock, to see if they can make the 50 miles and 8,000 feet of vertical ascent. Some years it's dry and some it's wet. It's always an adventure and it is always for an excellent cause. This year marks (I think) my 27th (28th?) race since its inception in 1993.
Vermont Adaptive helps to put athletes into sport who might not otherwise be able to participate. I have been so fortunate over these years to have weathered the crashes and calamities without significant compromise. Helping to keep others in the game is a real privilege.
Your help in making this possible means a lot to me. I appreciate it each year no matter the amount. The fact that you're willing to support Vermont Adaptive and me in this effort means a great deal. Thank you. And if you happen to be in the Ascutney area in late September, this is a great event to watch from the many checkpoints along the way - or just come and enjoy the best time of year in a magical part of Vermont.
Thank you!
