Our little boy Michael was diagnosed with DIPG, the deadliest form of childhood brain cancer, just a week after his 6th birthday. Our lives changed in a flash, as we watched Michael suffer the effects of this devastating disease, which he fought so bravely for 8.5 months before he passed away on May 17, 2015. We can only wonder what Michael would be like today. He should be 16 years old. He would have gotten a driver's license this past year and be a sophomore in high school. But he is frozen in time at 6 years old. Michael was the most amazing, loving, funny, energetic, brilliant little boy, and our hearts ache for him every single day.
Though he is not here, we are so proud of the impact that he is making on the fight to Defeat DIPG. We vowed to carry on Michael's fight and work for a cure so that other families do not have to experience this tragedy.
It's our 9th year of the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Superhero Sprint & 6K, which we established in Michael's honor. We need your help to meet our fundraising goal.
