Thank you for supporting Jun’s Legacy Squad!
This year marks 30 years since I lost my father, Juan Esteban, Jr. 💙 30 years of missing his quiet, funny, and kind-hearted presence. 30 years of carrying the weight of his absence. Grief, especially when experienced at a young age, never truly fades—it simply becomes a part of us, shaping who we are and how we move through life.
In the midst of this lifelong journey, I found meaning through The Center for Loss and Bereavement—first as a volunteer, and now as part of their staff. The lessons I’ve learned in my own grief became gifts, allowing me to empathize with and support others who are walking the same path. I hope my dad would be proud to know that out of my sadness, I found a purpose. His legacy is the inspiration behind my passion for raising awareness about childhood grief and advocating for a more grief-informed society.
This year, in honor of my dad’s 30th Angelvesary, I’m participating in the Strides of Hope 5K to support grieving children, teens, and adults in our community. 1 in 11 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling before they turn 18. Every step I take is for them. Every step is for those navigating the pain of loss. Every step is for my dad.
