Join us for a virtual 200-mile challenge (or set your own unique goal) from Lake Hollingsworth around Polk County to visit the 25 Polk County high schools where our scholarship runner athletes train and compete.
Results can be entered starting June 1.
As you enter activities, a marker will virtually track your progress around Polk County on the results map. You can check out your virtual surroundings using Google Street View.
The proceeds of the 2011 Watermelon Series created the first LRC scholarship fund and $1,000 was awarded to one Polk County high school senior. With the continued support by runners and walkers at the Summer Sunrise Watermelon Series, the club has since awarded $78,500 in scholarships through a program administered by the Polk Education Foundation.
Join the Summer Miles for Scholarships Challenge by making a donation of your choice. 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go to either to the Scholarship Fund or kidsPACK. There is no shirt or medal. You will earn an amazing sense of accomplishment that your contribution will make a difference for Polk County students.
Our goal is $10,000. All additional donations will be given to kidsPack, a local nonprofit that distributes food to children on weekends and during school breaks, so no child goes hungry.
