This August 10th, I'll be participating in Safe Voices' Race for Survivors. This race honors and raises money to support Maine survivors of domestic abuse, sex trafficking, and sexual exploitation. I will never be able to thank them enough for saving my life.
When I was trying to leave my ex-husband I had so many barriers to being successful. My advocate from Safe Voices worked with me and supported me for over a year in the process of my escape, legal proceedings, and now healing process. When I had nothing and was made to feel like I had no one, I ALWAYS had my advocate. It didn't matter how many times I had tried to leave before I was successful, they were always there to support me.
Safe Voices is an organization that provides person-to-person, individualized advocacy for all survivors of domestic abuse and violence, sex trafficking, and sexual exploitation in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties and engages our communities in social change to eliminate violence.
Please help me support their work by donating to my fundraising efforts. Every dollar counts, and the money raised will go directly to families facing abuse right here in our communities. I relied on Safe Voices on more than one occasion for food and it was thanks to donations from the community that I didn't have to be hungry while trying to leave my abusive situation.
Thank you.
