2024 was our family's first Base 2 Space experience; first time climbing 832 steps to the top of the Space Needle. We signed up because Tallinn wanted to and we thought it sounded fun. We trained by climbing a lot of stairs and getting out the word about our fundraising goal. I thought about all the people I've known whose lives have been impacted and upended by cancer and it made all the work that much more meaningful.
Our community rallied and we raised more than our goal. It may sound corny, but on the day of the climb I felt the support and presence of each person who contributed. Knowing they've been impacted in some way — personally, profoundly, permanently — made each step humbling and inspiring. I climbed to honor them and their loved ones.
To those able to make a contribution to support this year's climb, thank you. This year, I'm climbing for all those impacted by cancer and with a renewed sense of urgency to support research into cancer and infectious disease.
Here's the video Addie and Tallinn made to support this year's climb. I'm biased, but I think they did an amazing job writing their script and practicing. Tony helped, of course, but the kids were major contributors all along the way!
Thank you for supporting our climb and for supporting research!
