LEONIDS REINHOLDS
A Single Step Can Change a Life
Leonids Reinholds believes that a single step can change a life.
His journey in Nordic walking began in 2022 – not for medals, but for well-being. At the time, he weighed 96 kg, had no athletic background, and simply wanted to feel better. One training session became two, two became a routine, and the routine turned into confidence.
In a year and a half, he lost 15 kg and discovered that his body and mind were capable of much more.

European medals and Latvian team gold
In 2023, Leonids entered his first 10 km race. A broken leg ended the season early – but that setback became a turning point. After recovery, he did not return to where he had been; he moved forward.
He completed his first 21 km race, and in 2024 represented Latvia at the World Championships in Lahti, finishing 4th. In 2025, his progress continued with a European Championship bronze at 5 km, silver at 21 km, and gold as part of the Latvian men’s national team.
Beyond medals, Leonids gained something deeper – an understanding of people.
He learned that everyone needs someone who says, “You can do this.” That true community supports rather than compares. That meaningful change happens faster than we think when someone believes in us.
Today, as a Board Member at NWANA, Leonids focuses on strategic development and building systems that make sport and health accessible to all.
