At TCMA, we believe running is better together. Fartlek University combines community, coaching, and a training approach that makes running effective and fun— inspired by the original meaning of “fartlek”: speed play, a reminder that training can be structured and purposeful while still being enjoyable.
Whether you’re new to running, returning after time away, or preparing for a half or full marathon, our programs offer a supportive, structured, and motivating environment where every runner is welcome.
Through our training groups, we aim to create an inclusive space where every runner feels empowered to pursue their personal best. Our programs meet you exactly where you are and help you go further—physically, mentally, and confidently.
Fartlek University is built on the belief that your running journey is part education, part performance, part community, and part fun. Yes, you’ll build endurance and strength—but you’ll also learn the why behind your workouts, gain tools to stay on track, and discover how enjoyable the process can be.
Led by experienced coaches and grounded in science-based training principles, our programs offer something for everyone. With multiple options to fit your goals and ability level, we’re here to guide and support you every step of the way. We offer three training sessions throughout the year: Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Ready to take the next step in your training? Our Spring Distance Training Program offers five training plans to meet you where you are and help you go further, whether you are newer to running, returning after some time off, or striving for a new goal. The Spring Distance Training Program starts January 28. Registration is now open.
Group size is limited. Register early – the programs fill up fast!
What’s Included:
- Wednesdays — Speed and Form Work at 7 AM or 6 PM
- Progressive workouts designed to improve pace, form, and stamina.
Choose between two intensity levels that fit your experience and goals. - Saturdays — Supported Long Runs at 8 AM
- Build endurance with a supportive group and coach-led structure.
- Personalized training paces to ensure you’re working at the right intensity
- Access to our online training platform and community to stay connected with your coach and fellow runners
- Four-week Base Building Plan before training begins (delivered Dec 29)
- Weekly newsletters and expert-led supplemental training sessions to stay on track
