Mission
Dorcas Ministries provides compassionate assistance to area residents to empower people to become stable and self-sufficient.
Dorcas Ministries, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, located at 187 High House Road in Cary, has been providing compassionate assistance to our neighbors in Cary and Morrisville since 1968. Our founder, Margaret Keller, was initially moved to create a free preschool for children whose parents could not afford to provide an early education to their children. Over the years, her vision has evolved into a place where struggling people can get help with food, financial assistance, emergency housing, mentoring and support for budding entrepreneurs, and job readiness training. Our passion is to move people from dependence to self-sufficiency, while also addressing immediate crises.
The coronavirus pandemic resulted in a sharp increase in the number of our neighbors who turned to us for help. Our food pantry, one of the busiest in North Carolina, responded to three times the typical number of clients. Financial assistance was provided to thousands for rent, utilities, medical costs, child care and other basic necessities. This help provided our struggling neighbors with an important safety net at a time when many felt like the rug had been pulled out from underneath them.
We invite you to consider making a financial or food donation to Dorcas Ministries. Your donation today will help stabilize our struggling neighbors. For more information about Dorcas, visit dorcascary.org.
