I used to hate running—until it saved my life. When I moved to D.C. in 2020 during the pandemic, I started running as a way to explore my new city and exercise outside when gyms and yoga studios closed or moved online. I ran my first 5K in November 2020 and I was hooked. In 2022, I developed pain in my right hip. I did physical therapy and took a break from running but the pain didn't improve. A November 2022 MRI of my hip incidentally found a right ovarian mass and further testing showed that I had two synchronous cancers—ovarian and endometrial. Because my cancers were caught early, I had surgery and have been cancer-free since December 2022.
All gifts support the work of Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service, funding innovative research, education, and critical resources and support programs for patients, survivors, and their loved ones. With funding uncertain for cancer research and education, your contribution can make a real difference!
I will be walking in gratitude for my health (2+ years cancer free!), in support of everyone affected by cancer, and in honor of those we lost too soon to this T
Thank you for your support!
