The COB Police Department approved the temporary closure of some local roads, however, most roads will remain open to traffic during the event.
While traffic is pretty light this time of day, for your safety and the safety of all participants, volunteers, and spectators, we ask that you remain on the sidewalks as much as possible. Please use extreme caution at intersections and follow the instructions of our volunteers. Your safety and the safety of our volunteers are our priority. Check out Road Closures for updated details.
AWARENESS & SAFETY
At the event, your pet will be exposed to small children, other dogs, people speaking loudly on microphones, loud music, crowds clapping, and spectators cheering. You know your pet best, so please use your best judgment to make sure that your pet will enjoy the event just as much as you will. It's okay if you choose to leave your pet at home.
If you decide to bring your dog with you, please READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS below and FOLLOW the guidelines to ensure you, your pet, and everyone else have a great time. Our goal on race day is for everyone to have a BLAST and save as many animal lives as possible. We have a few rules to make it safe for everyone:
DOGS!
You may bring your four-legged companion to this dog-friendly event. They MUST be on NON-RETRACTABLE leash at all times. Do not leave your pup unattended and for the safety of everyone, please consider the ability of your dog and line up accordingly at the starting line. All dogs must be well-behaved and non-aggressive with people, children, and other dogs.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING or WALKING WITH YOUR DOG, MAKE SURE YOUR DOG CAN TOLERATE THE DISTANCE AND TEMPERATURE. If this is your first time please make sure you line up along the back or the side, giving your dog enough space to get acclimated. Also, make sure the dogs remain on the sidewalks at all times.
ALL WALKERS should line up along the back of the starting line. If you have a pet breed with you that can’t tolerate this kind of exertion, please consider bringing a dog carrier, stroller, or wagon for your dog.
Dog Hydration Pet water stations will be scattered throughout the course and expo area. These are communal bowls, so if you have a puppy or elderly pet, please keep it safe and bring a travel or disposable bowl for their use
Dog Droppings Nature calls. Expect your dog to have to do their business along the race. It is the responsibility of the owner to pick up your dog. Poop bags will be included in the pickup packet at check-in and registration. There will be no trash cans along the course so please bring all used bags back and dispose of them in the trash cans near the pavilion.
CHILDREN
Strollers! For your safety and the safety of all participants, please use extreme caution at intersections and when approaching other runners and dogs. To minimize congestion and ensure the safety of all participants, we recommend that participants with strollers line up toward the back to allow the larger group of runners and dogs to spread out evenly reducing the risk of collisions or injuries.
Young Children! Parents with small children, please make sure the children are on the sidewalks at all times. Educate them on how to approach a dog. We are always careful watching the crowds and pets to ensure everyone stays safe. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO WATCH YOUR CHILD AND OTHER PETS. It only takes a second for accidents to happen.
