Named the “Best New Running Race in 2013” by the Austin-American Statesman, the Autism Speaks 8k Run and First Leap 1k Kids Fun Run features a challenging 8k (~5 mi) race through the iconic grounds of Camp Mabry, a 2-person relay, and the First Leap Kids 1k Fun Run.
Runners on this challenging course will pass historic military vehicles and aircraft as they make their way through the hilly, scenic grounds of Camp Mabry. Many runners are surprised at the hilliness of the course, in particular the mile-long 2-3% grade between miles 2 and 3, including a short (100 ft) 7% grade hill in the middle.
