Race Insurance
RegShield, a FanShield product, is registration protection for event participants. RegShield reimburses the cost of their registration price, should you be unable to attend the race due to several covered reasons including accident, illness and family emergency.
You can only purchase coverage during the registration process. You are not able to add it on after registration is completed.
While RegShield protection applies to all registrations within the order, a unique plan is assigned to each individual registration.
Although you purchase coverage through the RunSignup website, RegShield is a third-party entity, and all plan-related questions should be directed to FanShield via the following channels:
Email: help@fanshield.com
Phone: 1-844-849-4827 ext. 1
How do I file a claim?
- Click “File a Refund Request” at the bottom of your confirmation email, or visit https://requestmyrefund.com/fanshield/refund.
- Use a desktop or laptop computer for the best experience.
What documentation is required?
- Every request must include proof that the covered reason (“peril”) occurred.
- The type of documentation depends on the situation.
- Example: A doctor’s note is required for accident or illness.
- If the request is for a covered peril and includes the correct documentation, it will be approved and reimbursed.
How long does the process take?
- Refund requests are typically processed within 5–7 business days once documentation is submitted.
How long do I have to file?
- You must file within 30 days of the first occurrence of the covered reason.
Are refunds offered if an event is canceled or rescheduled by the venue or Lakeland Runners Club?
- No. RegShield does not cover event cancellations or rescheduling.
- RegShield only covers situations where you cannot attend due to a covered reason.
- Think of it as registration protection, not event cancellation protection.
Are refunds offered for work or personal conflicts?
- No. General work or personal conflicts are not covered.
- RegShield only applies when an unexpected obstacle prevents you from attending.
- Example: If your car breaks down on the way to the race and that breakdown prevents you from getting to the race, you may file a claim.
