The fee to register as an in-person cyclist is $50 and increases to $75 on July 1st.  Beginning September 1st, the fee increases to $90.  There is a $25 registration fee per participant for virtual cyclists/spinners, runners, walkers, or multi-sport participants.

E-Bikes are permissable,, provided that they meet PA laws. In Pennsylvania, compliant e-bikes are legally defined as a "pedalcycle with electric assist" and are generally treated the same as traditional bicycles under state vehicle codes.

"State Specifications for Legal E-BikesTo operate legally on public roads and shared infrastructure in Berks County, your electric bicycle must meet these exact state requirements:Maximum Motor Power: 750 watts or lessWeight Limit: 100 pounds or lessSpeed Cap: Maximum of 20 mph on motor power alone on a level surfacePedals: Must feature fully operable, functional pedalsMinimum Age: Riders must be at least 16 years old to ride on public roads."

There is no minimum fundraising requirement for the 2026 Breakthrough Challenge.

All Breakthrough Challenge participants have the opportunity to set a personal fundraising goal during registration. 

The Breakthrough Challenge does not charge the participant for the difference, if they do not meet their personal fundraising goal.

The Breakthrough Virtual Challenge allows anyone from anywhere in the world to participate in the Breakthrough Challenge!

You may cycle, walk, run, spin, swim, hit, row, or do your favorite fitness activities such as Yoga and Pilates. In other words, the sky’s the limit!

All registered participants for the 2026 Breakthrough Challenge event will receive a t-shirt. There will be fundraising swag incentives at the $250, $500, $750, and $1000 levels. The incentives will be available to view on this website by August 1st, 2026 on the Fundraising Incentives page.
