Description

Welcome to the 16th annual Claremont Sunrise Rotary Turkey Trot. With a start/finish in the quaint Claremont Village, the scenic course winds its way through the tree-lined streets of the Claremont Colleges and into the adjacent historic neighborhoods. A slight downhill grade on the last leg provides a welcome boost into the finish.

This year's hybrid event allows runners to choose between the traditional in-person race on Thanksgiving morning or a virtual race on a course of your choosing. If health and safety concerns make it necessary to cancel the in-person race, all runners will be switched to the virtual option.

Late registration and packet pickup will take place on Wednesday, November 22 from 4PM to 7PM at the Claremont Depot. Located at 200 W First Street, Claremont, CA 91711. Race day packet pickup begins at 6AM.

Everyone in the 1K Kids Fun Run receives a finishers medal and a race shirt. All participants in the 5K Run/Walk get a race shirt. Trophies are awarded to the top male and top female overall finishers. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers in each age division. Age divisions are <10, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, etc. Race shirt availability is not guaranteed for late registrations, so please register early!

Where Does the Money Go?

All proceeds from the Claremont Turkey Trot support the activities and projects of the Claremont Sunrise Rotary via Claremont Sunrise Rotary Foundation. Responsible leadership means more than just doing good work—it means making the most out of every donation we receive. We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact.

Activities and projects in which members actively participated include:

Claremont Sunrise Rotary

  • Providing necessities for local students in need throughout the school year
  • Hosting blood drives in partnership with Huntington Hospital
  • Assembling toiletry bags for homeless
  • Conducting ice cream socials for seniors
  • Assembling back-to-school backpacks for homeless children
  • Building rest pavilion in Claremont Wilderness Park
  • Masks, sanitizer, and senior shopping during the worst of COVID-19
  • Assembling 1,000 prosthetic arms
  • Organizing and leading teens at leadership camp experiences twice each year

The Claremont Sunrise Rotary Foundation also financially supports the activities of other non-profits, including:

  • Claremont Little League - bats and electronic scoreboard
  • Foothill Family Shelter - housing homeless adults and children
  • ShelterBox - emergency disaster relief
  • Thundar, Lightning and Peace - helping veterans with trauma
  • Uncommon Good - empowering families through education and health
  • Haynes Family of Programs - treatment and educational services to children with special needs
  • Inland Valley Recover Services - providing substance abuse recovery & counseling
