WHAT IS THE CAP2CAP BIKE RIDE?
The Cap2Cap Bike Ride is an annual event hosted by the Capital Trail Foundation to showcase the Capital Trail that brings the whole community together! Join us for this fun, family-friendly event and help support the Cap Trail at the same time!
WHAT IS THE CAPITAL TRAIL?
The Capital Trail is a 51.7-mile multiuse, paved Trail that runs from Williamsburg to Richmond, VA.
WHERE ARE THE ROUTES?
The routes are up to you! If you want to receive all of the Cap2Cap perks and experience all the Trail has to offer, we suggest you plan your route on the Virginia Capital Trail. Need some help? Our friends at Road Tested Bike Tours have put together some itineraries, linked at the bottom of this page! You can also ride on your stationary bike at your house, around your neighborhood, or on a local Trail.
WHAT DAY CAN I RIDE?
Riders can select which day they would like to complete their ride (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Most of our participants are choosing to ride on Saturday. If you would like to avoid the crowds, we recommend choosing a Friday or Sunday ride date.
*Please note ride day and event capacity may be limited due to covid restrictions.
ARE THESE ROUTES SAG/POLICE/EMT SUPPORT?
No, these routes take place entirely on the Trail and will not be supported by SAG/Police/EMTs.
WHERE CAN I GET MY BOXED LUNCH?
Dorey Park: 7200 Dorey Park Drive, Henrico, VA 23231
The takeaway boxed lunches will be available at Dorey Park on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from NOON to 3 PM. You can pick up your lunch and eat it on a blanket at the park, take it home, or put it in your backpack and continue your ride!
IF I RIDE ON FRIDAY, WHEN DO I GET MY RIDE PACKET?
If you ride on Friday, you will get your packet either Friday evening, Saturday morning, or you can opt to have it shipped to you.
WHERE/HOW DO I GET A BEER?
You can redeem your beer ticket at either Hardywood location throughout the month of May. Your beer ticket will be mailed to you if you select that you would like your ticket mailed OR you can pick it up with your ride packet.

WHAT IS A REST STOP?
Rest stops provide snacks, water, and a great cheering section. Rest stops will be evenly spaced along every route. Rest stops will be located at Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Charles City Courthouse, Four Mile Creek Trailhead, and Great Shiplock Park. Rest stops will be active between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. To limit crowding and keep our volunteers and riders safe, you will only be able to utilize rest stops on your selected ride day.
WHERE/WHEN DO I PICK UP MY RIDE PACKET?
Ride packets can be picked up at the following times/locations. You do not need your packet in order to participate in the Cap2Cap Bike Ride so you can pick it up after your ride.
1. Chickahominy Riverfront Park on Friday, May 7th from 4 PM to 8 PM (1350 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA 23185)
2. Hardywood Brewery on Friday, May 7th from 4 PM to 8 PM (2410 Ownby Ln, Richmond, VA 23220)
3. Dorey Park on Saturday, May 8th from 7 AM to 11 AM (7200 Dorey Park Dr, Henrico, VA 23231)
4. You can also choose to have your packet mailed to you for a fee of $10. If you would like your packet mailed, please log in to your RunSignUp account and select the mail option under add-on. Packets will be mailed on May 3rd if you selected this option.
IF I OPT TO HAVE MY RIDE PACKET SHIPPED, WHEN WILL IT BE SHIPPED?
All ride packets will be shipped May 3rd to ensure its arrival in time for Cap2Cap weekend.
WILL CAP2CAP BE SUPPORTED BY POLICE/EMS?
No, the routes are on the Virginia Capital Trail, NOT public roads so police/EMS will not be present.
WILL THERE BE A POST-RIDE PARTY?
No, but you will still get a post-ride lunch and beer! Your lunch will be available from NOON to 3 PM at Dorey Park. You can use your beer ticket anytime throughout the month of May at either Hardywood location.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
All of our riders have different needs and we do our best to meet all of them. Just bring your bike, helmet, and any riding gear you may need and you're all set. Some other items brought by riders include: sunglasses, sunscreen, additional snacks, extra clothes/gear, and portable phone chargers.
CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO MY RIDE DATE OR PACKET PICK-UP?
Friday, April 23rd will be the last day to change your ride day selections for the Dominion Energy Cap2Cap (space permitting); this lead time is necessary to allow us to organize with our food vendors, suppliers, volunteers, and venues for a successful Cap2Cap. If you would like to change your ride day, please email us at email@example.com. Please note that we may need to limit our capacity on a given ride date before April 23rd. The day you choose your ride is the day you will be able to pick-up your lunch. Riders will also have until May 5th to change their packet pick-up location.
WHAT DISTANCE SHOULD I RIDE? CAN I TRANSFER RIDES?
We encourage everyone of all skill levels to participate in our ride which is why we offer four different distances. Should you choose to Transfer, please log into your Bike Signup account and follow the instructions under the Edit Registration Tab.
CAN I GET A REFUND FOR THE RIDE?
No, it is stated in our registration waiver that “registrations are non-refundable, non-transferable, and may not be deferred to another year. The Cap2Cap takes place rain or shine. In case of severe weather, VCTF reserves the right to cancel/alter/modify the ride for safety concerns. In any case, we do not refund ride fees, transfer registration to another year, or transfer registration to other riders. In the unlikely case, a ride is canceled, you may claim your registration fee as a tax-deductible donation.
