Nun Run 2020 is on!

As our family at Little Sisters of the Poor slowly emerge from our COVID-19 lockdown at Jeanne Jugan Residence, we have decided to continue with plans for our annual Nun Run 5k Run/Walk scheduled for September 12th, but with certain restrictions to be compliant with CDC guidelines and for the safety of everyone involved. Registration for the race will be limited to the first 200 entrants to ensure proper social distancing and there will be no day of registration.

NEW LOCATION: Our home is still vulnerable with our elderly family; therefore, we will be moving our 2020 fundraiser event to a new venue - Midnight Oil Brewery at Pencader Industrial Park in Newark. While this event cannot replace the companionship of being together with or Residents at our home, we are forever thankful for your kindness and untiring support during this horrific pandemic of COVID-19.

We will provide more details here as the event nears, including map, directions, parking, etc. This includes guidelines on use of masks while not running/walking and our social distancing plans. Senior Citizens and those with underlying medical conditions should consider taking part virtually and we’ll explain how to best do that.

Little Sisters of the Poor
Caring for the Elderly throughout the world.

As Little Sisters of the Poor, we care for the elderly poor in the spirit of humble service that we have received from Jeanne Jugan. We welcome the elderly as we would Jesus Christ himself and serve them with love and respect until death. To learn more about the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor please visit

Since 1903 the Little Sisters of the Poor have cared for the aged poor in Delaware.   read more...

Because of the generosity of our benefactors, thousands of needy aged persons have received quality care in a loving home-like atmosphere, where they can feel themselves esteemed and respected for the contributions that they have made to society. Indeed, today a number of our Residents are persons who were once in a position to help provide for the needs of others. Now, due to changes in our economy and in their personal situations, they find themselves dependent on the kindness of others.

As we strive to provide a comfortable home for the elderly with limited resources, the Little Sisters of the Poor are truly grateful to all who partner with them in creative ways to meet the needs of the elderly.
