Springtime 10K/5K/1 Mile

The following are the two beneficiaries of the Springtime 10K/5K/1M races for 2024:

NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS

Incorporated in 1989, NAMI Tallahassee is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We serve Leon and surrounding counties. NAMI is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help education, support, and advocacy organization for individuals living with mental illnesses and their families. The national organization has created a variety of peer-led education and support programs which have been deemed evidence-based best practices by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Local affiliates such as NAMI Tallahassee provide training, curriculum, materials, and technical assistance to thousands of volunteers who are committed to bringing these programs to their communities.

NAMI Tallahassee, through dues and fundraising, offers all programs, support groups, presentations, and outreach events at no charge to the community.  In addition to NAMI Signature Programs, NAMI Tallahassee supports Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for regional law enforcement personnel.Additionally, we support the LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Survivors of Suicide Loss), which offers peer support to families and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide, provided through phone calls, print materials, and ongoing availability for personal support.

HOLY COMFORTER EPISCOPAL SCHOOL TRACK FUND

Holy Comforter Episcopal School (HCES) will be a partial beneficiary of net proceeds for the Springtime Races by Gulf Winds Track Club (GWTC) for 2024 in exchange for usage of their modern collegiate level track which is currently under construction.  HCES, located on Fleischman Rd in northeast Tallahassee, is a not-for- profit independent school with an almost 70 year history of serving the North Florida and South Georgia Big Bend Community.  The addition of a collegiate running track accessible not only to the school’s students and families but also to the broader community marks a significant development in the school’s history, and an opportunity to partner with the GWTC.

This partnership between GWTC and HCES, as a designated beneficiary of the Springtime races, will provide access for GWTC events without charge. These events could include, but not be limited to, one or two races per year, once a week training events throughout the year, an eight week track series for families (held one evening per week), or other similar activities as mutually agreed by HCES and the GWTC.
