The AHA is leading breakthroughs in science and technology, helping patients, changing policy, and raising awareness of heart disease and stroke treatment and prevention. Your full-mission gift to the AHA will help save and improve lives by funding a variety of programs and initiatives. A portion of the donation will be used in direct support of the Building a Healthy Generation Initiative to address childhood obesity in Washtenaw County by providing sporting equipment to in-need children to increase physical activity. Your support will also provide fresh produce, and the education needed to store, prep, and cook with fruits and vegetables. Lastly, a county-wide public education campaign will help raise awareness of childhood obesity and the daily steps one can take to live a healthier life. 

Jackson’s Silent Killer addresses blood pressure management at populations of greatest risk and overall cardiovascular health in Jackson by providing the tools to help control and lower blood pressure. Your support will provide at-home blood pressure monitors removing barriers that may have impacted 
individual’s ability to monitor their blood pressure daily. Fresh produce, and the education needed to store, prep, and cook with fruits and vegetables will be provide along with low sodium recipes. Lastly, a Jackson-wide public education campaign will help raise awareness of high blood pressure: what your numbers mean and ways to manage and lower blood pressure.
