This year the Sugar Rush Relay will be fundraising for Hope For Three, a local 501c3 nonprofit autism advocacy group that provides resources and support to families with autistic children and loved ones. The organization also generates awareness through outreach, education, and events.
Hope For Three was inspired by the plight of a fantastic mother and father in Fort Bend County who experienced the triple pleasure and heartbreak of having identical triplets, all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD or autism). Autism is the leading and fastest-growing developmental disability in the United States, affecting 1 in 36 children. Over 7,800 autistic children are enrolled in Fort Bend County public schools. Hope For Three is one of the only nonprofits in Greater Houston to focus solely on autism and no other disability and the only nonprofit in the Fort Bend County area to provide assistance on an ongoing, monthly basis.
