The “Winter Run/Walk Streak Challenge” grows in popularity every year as a way to stay motivated, healthy and take time for one’s self during the busy holiday season. The challenge was popularized by “Runner’s World” magazine, as they promote the challenge every year between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. (See the following article from the 2022 Winter Run Streak challenge https://www.runnersworld.com/runners-stories/a27546583/rw-run-streak). Those that complete the challenge earn nothing more than bragging rights and the ability to call themselves a true run “streaker.”

Actual rules of the “Winter Run/Walk Streak” varies depending on the person participating. The most popular challenges are free to participate and low-to-no-consequence should you miss a day of running or walking.

A general consensus is that for a day to count towards the “streak,” you must run or walk at least ONE dedicated mile. That doesn’t include any mileage you rack up doing your normal day-to-day activities. It also doesn’t include mileage from playing sports like soccer, football or basketball. The mile must be stand-alone and completed on your own two feet either by walking/running outside, on a treadmill, on an indoor track, laps around a gym floor or even laps in your own home/backyard. Those who do this daily for 38 consecutive days earn the title of “streaker.”
