Rules for Participating
THIS IS A FULLY-CLOTHED ACTIVITY!
*Signing up for this event is FREE. A Kansas State Park Vehicle Permit is required for any motorized vehicle entering Meade State Park.
*Mileage tracking and submission is entirely on the HONOR SYSTEM. Please do your part to keep this event honest and fun.
*ADA Accessibility: Participants needed wheelchair or scooter may also participate so long as they record a DEDICATED mile towards the challenge. (Electric or manual wheelchairs and electric scooters are acceptable depending on the participant’s needs.)
1. Walk or run ONE MILE (or more) every day to qualify for the streak and/or prize drawings. Your first day of recording mileage will be Black Friday (Nov. 29, 2024) and your FINAL day for recording mileage will be New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2025).
-Must be a dedicated mile! Biking, swimming, skating, scooting, playing an organized (or unorganized) sport or using your “normal daily step count” does NOT count!
-Participants needing a wheelchair may count any dedicated mileage set aside specifically for the challenge. (see ADA statement above.)
-If you signed up young children, they must be capable of completing the challenge ON THEIR OWN. Pushing a child in a stroller, pulling in a wagon while you walk or carrying the child in any way will not count for a daily mile. Children who need a wheelchair or scooter for medical purposes ARE ALLOWED to use those devices in the challenge.
2. One mile (or more) EVERY DAY!
-You can’t do a 7-mile run/walk on Sunday and then spread those miles throughout the week.
3. Regular run/walk specific training counts, other organized (or un-organized) sports do not.
- Example 1: If you have a two-mile run scheduled in order to stay in shape for an activity like soccer, basketball etc. then this can count as your dedicated daily
mileage. You do not have to do a separate mile specifically for the streak.
- Mileage ran while PLAYING soccer, basketball, quidditch, hunting, fishing, building fence, etc. DOES NOT COUNT.
4. All final mileage sheets must be e-mailed, mailed or physically turned in to the park office by Jan. 8th. Mileage recorded before Nov. 29 and after Jan. 1 will not be counted.
- You can submit your mileage in whatever format works best for you, but staff will need to be able to determine the following:
a. What date the miles were completed.
b. How many miles were completed on that specific day.
c. Where the miles were completed.
d. Proof you participated in “Specialty Day” activities if you claim you did so (photos).
5. Miles completed on a treadmill, indoor track, gym, in your backyard, on the road or even by walking circles in your living room COUNT!
*Late entry forms will be accepted until Dec. 9, 2023 at midnight. Late entrants will ONLY be eligible for random drawing prizes. You must be registered in order to participate!
