Listening Walk at the Zoo and 5K Run

At Clarke’s Listening Walk, children who are deaf or hard of hearing use their listening skills to discover unique sounds throughout the zoo, like the honk of a flamingo or the squeak of a bat. Each child carries a Listening Walk Passport to keep track of the listening stops they’ve visited and they keep this passport as a special keepsake at the end of the event. This fun and education event helps us draw public attention to the fact that children who are deaf or hard of hearing can listen and talk.

What better place to run a 5k? You will be cheering on by enthusiastic animals and Clarke supporters as you navigate three miles through the Zoo’s exciting, hilly course. You'll gain exposure to all of the fun animal sounds that will be heard later on during the Listening Walk.
