Course Information
The Classic City Marathon course and the Classic City Half Marathon course start together in historic downtown Athens. Both courses run through our varied neighborhoods, vibrant communities, university campuses, and scenic greenways. The two courses split to allow marathoners to run the full marathon distance, but marathoners rejoin half marathoners at several points. The last ~6 miles of the courses are the same. Marathon Relay teams share the marathon course.
The race course remains open for 6 hours with full support. After 1:30 p.m., cones and course support will be cleaned up so that the streets may re-open; any runners still on the course will be asked to move to the sidewalks or manage their remaining distance on their own. The Finish Line remains open for 7 hours (until 2:30 p.m.).
