The AES Runs the World 5K and (new!) Fun Run is a signature fundraising event for the Avondale Elementary School Education Foundation (AESEF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in Fall 2016. Our mission is to develop resources that remove barriers and create opportunities for student achievement at Avondale Elementary School (AES). We envision that every child at AES has the resources to thrive. Last year (our first year), we raised $8,000 and were able to invest in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program with the purchase of robots and 3-D printers. Three of our students placed at the DeKalb technology fair, and one placed at the state technology fair. We will use this year's funds to continue to build STEM programming and outdoor spaces (Chromebooks, STEM garden, etc.) and to help build a new playground.
NEW FUN RUN! We have added a one mile Fun Run for the little legs and for those who aren't so little but don't want to go very far.
Kevin Young, who broke Edwin Moses' 1984 400m hurdles world record at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, will be joining our race again! Come run with and meet a champion!
We welcome all runner, interval runners, walkers, people in wheelchairs, and dogs to our race. Participants with children in strollers are also welcomed. For safety reasons, participants in wheelchairs, with dogs and/or with strollers cannot start until ALL others clear the start line. Bikes, skateboards, and scooters - electric or self-powered and of any style, shape or size - are not allowed.
Sign up with multiple people and save money on the registration fee. RunSignUp charges by the total amount of the transaction, not per runner. https://runsignup.com/Pricing
