It is estimated that Sickle Cell Disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans. Sickle Cell Disease occurs among 1 out of every 365 African-American births and 1 out of every 16,300 Hispanic-American births. (SCD) is a multisystem disorder and is cited as being the most common genetic disease in the United States, with complications that can be life threatening. The Adam A. Smith Legacy Sickle Cell Foundation Inc. was established in September 2020 by ReKena Smith after her husband, Adam A. Smith transitioned suddenly after battling the lifetime illness Sickle Cell Anemia in May 2020. ReKena has a passion to support those with Sickle Cell Disease and to help others learn more about this multisystem disorder.

During the registration process, please consider making a bigger step to support those who suffer from Sickle Cell by creating a team and/or fundraiser!  By doing so, you can earn incentives such as:

  • Raise $250 - Earn a refund of your registration fee
  • Raise $500 - Earn a Custom Adam A. Smith Legacy Sickle Cell Foundation Inc. Tote bag
  • If your registered race social team raises $1000 total by June 1st, 2022 - Earn your team name on the back of the event shirts

The Adam A. Smith Legacy Sickle Cell Foundation Inc. mission is to make life better for people with SCD by providing social assistance for youth and adults.
