FAQ

You ask, we answer!

Here are the most common questions asked by our HoBOOken5K Runners!

Please note that COVID-19 is still a factor as we plan the race and we want to have a safe and fun race.

As one of the largest races in Hoboken, the HoBOOken is working to develop a safety plan for returning to racing responsibly amidst the COVID-19 concerns. Our goal is to ensure that all participants, staff, volunteers and community partners remain as safe as possible while attending the event. We will comply with CDC recommendations, local, state and federal guidelines to ensure runner safety and volunteer safety.

These steps may be modified at any time, but will be communicated to registrants prior to race day. All decisions are at the discretion of the race director and when runners sign their waiver they agree to these terms.

About the race

What is the HoBOOken 5K Halloween Run to End Homelessness?

The HoBOOken 5K Halloween Run is Hoboken’s one and only charitable, costumed race! Founded in 2010 the race is an exciting fundraising event that benefits The Hoboken Shelter.

The Hoboken Shelter transforms lives, sheltering 50 people nightly, serving 500 meals daily, and hosting 1,000 showers weekly for those in need. It also provides support services to help guests gain employment, achieve independence, and reintegrate into the community. We can only do this with your support! You can find out more about The Hoboken Shelter here.

Your Health and Safety is Key

We encourage all participants to be vaccinated, in line with that only children ages 12 & up can participate in the 5K on race day.  If you are not vaccinated, we ask that you please wear a face covering. We will allow strollers, however there will be a separate start for stroller runners and we encourage them to socially distance. However will comply with all local, state and federal guidelines so health and safety guidelines are subject to change and subject to the discretion of the race director.
