Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I register on race day?
We do not offer race day registration.
How do I know I already registered?
Check here to see if you or a friend registered (and whether you need to tell yourself/them to hurry up).
I want to change my shirt size, can I do that?
Shirt size changes can be made by logging into your account in RunSignUp until August 15th, 2020. After that we can’t allow you to change your shirt size. If you really need a different size, please check back with us after the race and we’ll see if we have extra shirts in the size you’d like.
How do I get my name on my bib number?
Everyone who registers before September 1, 2020 will have their name on their bib.
Will there be early packet pick up?
Yes. Early packet pickup will take place on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Sound Runner in Glastonbury. Sound Runner will also be offering a discount to all registered runners.
Can I pick up a friend or family member’s bib?
Yes. You can pick up bibs and shirts for others. Please have their name and preferably bib number when you come to pick up. If you are going to pick up a lot of bib numbers, please email me in advance (kelly@sonicendurance.com) and we’ll get everything ready for you.
How do I get to the race?
Please do not use GPS, please use the directions here. In prior years you could take Hogback Road and a left over Durst Road’s bridge (the way you finish the race). This is no longer available for traffic purposes. You must come up the other side of the dam (Eno Hill Road) to be able to access registration, parking, and the race start.
On race day where should I park?
If you plan on arriving very early (before 7:30 a.m.) there should be parking available in the Goodwin Dam parking lot. After the lot fills up we will begin parking cars along Durst and Eno Hill roads. Please follow the instructions of the volunteers while parking.
What is the early start?
If you anticipate needing more than 2 hours 45 minutes to complete the course, we will be offering an Early Start at 8:15 a.m. (please register for the early start option when you sign up for the race). If you would like to transfer into or out of the early start, please email me at kelly@sonicendurance.com
Is there a time limit?
No. There is no time limit. We wait until the very last runner finishes.
Are there aid stations?
There are six aid stations on course at approximately miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12. All aid stations will have water and Gatorade Endurance. The aid station at miles 6 and 10 will also have Honey Stinger products.
Are there port-o-johns?
There are port-o-johns located at the registration/finish area, as well as approximately 300 yards up the road from the start line. There are flush bathrooms located at People's Forest State Park (mile 7.8ish on your left), and an outhouse at roughly mile 9.5. Any runner caught relieving themselves outside of these locations will immediately be disqualified from the race.
Will there be pacers?
Yes indeed -- look out for our announcement on who will be pacing closer to race day.
Will there be food after the race?
There will be tons of food after race. Fruit, baked goods, baked chicken, pasta, salad and more. We’ll also have vegan and gluten free options -- if you have special dietary needs and don’t see something that works for you -- ask (my mom runs the post-race food and will be happy to help).
Who gets prizes?
Every finisher gets an awesome medal. We award prizes to the top three male and female overall runners and the top three male and female runners in 5 year age groups, plus Hogsback is the Connecticut RRCA State Championship so we will be awarding special medals to state champions in open, masters, grand master and senior age groups. We also award prizes to the top three runners in the Athena and Clydesdale categories. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO COLLECT YOUR AWARD. WE DO NOT MAIL AWARDS (it is ok to have a friend pick up your award for you).
What are the prizes?
TBD.
Are there cash prizes?
In 2020 we’re offering a $250 cash prize for the first male runner under 1:13:00 and the first female runner under 1:23:00.
Where do the race proceeds go? To Running for Rescues. All proceeds from the event will benefit Running for Rescues, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping animal shelters, adoptions, and more. Volunteers from Running for Rescues will be manning all the aid stations (make sure to thank them as you run). There will also be a Running for Rescues Table near the registration / food area where you can learn more about this organization. In addition, Thank Dog Rescue will be on-site with several dogs that are looking for their forever home.
