Description

Friends and Family are invited to join the Monarch Awards Foundation, Inc. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.-Xi Nu Omega as we host a virtual 5K walk to end Childhood Hunger.

What Is a Virtual 5K?  A virtual race is a race that can be ran (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Just complete your miles on or before October 23 as we bring awareness to Childhood Hunger.

This inagural 5K virtual run/walk will unite supporters who seek to eradicate Childhood Hunger and focus on Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Family Strengthening Programs which target critical issues facing many families, including lack of food, shelter and financial means. All proceeds from the Childhood Hunger Awareness Virtual 5K Run/Walk will benefit the Englewood residents and the Beautiful Zion Food Pantry during our 12th annual community feeding on November 19, 2016.

Established in 1988 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the purpose of implementing community programs of service, the Monarch Awards Foundation has proudly established a rich history of serving Chicagoland's diverse communities by providing quality program initiatives, scholarship assistance, and financial support of area non-profit organizations.  Our programs target six areas of need in the Chicago metropolitan area and its surrounding communities and include: Youth Enrichment (especially girls), Health, Global Poverty, Economic Security, Human Rights, and Social Justice. Our volunteers also impact the community-at-large through The Foundation's signature initiatives, including: Teen Esteem, MLK Day of Service, Easter EggStravaganza, Community Expo featuring the Music & Arts Explosion, and the Community Feeding.

Your generosity and support of The Foundation allows us to continue our tradition and mission of service to all mankind.
