Tip: Register for both the 12-hour and the 2-hour events if you are cool running either.

*A paved trail run through beautiful woodsy Southeastway Park is very close to a 2 mile loop. 

*Race starts at the designated time slot that you pick during registration.  Run/Walk up to 2 hours in your designated time frame. How many loops can you conquer?

*Medals for all participants. We will have Rookie Medals and second year Veteran Medals 

*Beer,Truly (21+) and Soda, Bottled Water, and Snacks handed out after your 2 Hours.

Social Distancing Plan

We are taking social distancing seriously.  2020 event is modified as follows:

1. Staggered start. We will begin runners every 5 seconds.

2. We are using the paved trails through the park. This is very close to a 2-mile loop and plenty wide for runners to pass each other.

3. We will not have open snacks like the past (licorice, cookies, etc...)  All snacks we provide will be packaged.  You should still plan on bringing your own nutrition.

4. There will be no intimate awards ceremony.  Teams and runners will be given their awards, but we won't all be gathered closely.

5. Pizza will be served according to food safety standards.  It won't be come and grab a slice (Pizza included for 12 hour Solo/Team Participants).

6. Beer and Truly will be in cans.

7. We won't provide coolers of water and cups.  We will have some bottled water. You should still plan on bringing your own hydration.

8. Bathrooms - the park has good hand-washing stations outside its portable bathrooms.  However, we recommend you have your own hand-sanitizer.

**Should Indy Parks not allow our official event, then this event becomes 'officially' virtual.  Our team will still run at Southeastway Park on June 13, and you are invited to run there too.  We won't set up our Start/Finish structure and timing equipment.  It will be up to you and your team to keep track of your loops.

What is the plan regarding Coronavirus/Social Distancing?

Please see the next section below the FAQ's.

Will there be a indoor shelter house? No, were outside all day. There is plenty of shade. Please bring hydration and supplies to help you keep yourself cool.

How is our distance tracked? Scoring will be determined by the number of loops FINISHED before the race clock hits 12 hours. For Solo runners, a triathlon style timing strap. For relay teams, a baton to pass to each other, which has a triathlon style timing strap.This will track each time you cross the start/finish line. 

What if I am not finished with my loop at 7:00 p.m.? All loops must be finished by 7:00 p.m. otherwise it will NOT COUNT as your/team loop. The clock at the Start/Finish is the Official Race Clock.

Is the course closed to non-participants? Not quite. We rented the entire park, but we do not have security to enforce it. Chances are good that park visitors will come and use the trails too.  Plan on seeing some non-Royal-Beast runners and walkers, and maybe even some bikes & hoverboards...

What do I need to bring for this type of event? We recommend, hand-sanitizer, tents/canopies (10 x 10 size), chairs, tables, coolers with ice, food/drinks for a royal picnic (breakfast, lunch, fruits, energy gels, crackers, sports drinks, etc), sunscreen, anti-chafe solutions, bug spray, change of clothing (shirt, shorts, shoes, etc.) and towels. Please note: What you bring in, goes back out with you. Trash cans will be available on site.

Can my dog run? Yes, but we recommend they skip the first loop.  This is a fairly tight trail (usually 2 runners wide), and dogs - as well as humans - can freak each other out.  Usual rules apply, pick up after your pet.

May I push a stroller?  – Yes, for 2020 the entire course is on pavement with no steps.

What if my teammate shows up late? Not a problem. You and your team will decide who, when, and how each other alternates running loops.

Medals? Everyone receives a Royal Beast medal whether running on a team or solo!

Shirts? Everyone receives a tech shirt whether on a team or solo! Must register by June 7 2020. otherwise cotton vintage brown shirts as available. 

Will food be provided during the event? No, please bring your own Royal Picnic. Beer, Wine, Soda, Water, Gatorade and some snacks will be available all day. At 7:00pm, the Post Party will include pizza.

What if it rains or storms? We are a rain-or-shine event. However, safety is important. If a bad storm with lightning and/or heavy wind moves through, we may have to shut down until the storm passes.

We will use our weather apps to monitor conditions throughout the day.
If weather approaches, we will officially pause timing/scoring and all runners will have to stop after they finish their loop.
All canopies/tents will be lowered for safety. Please have tents/canopies staked or weighed down. 
Once the weather passes, we will restart the event but we will NOT restart the clock. Therefore if the weather causes a 40 minute pause, the event now becomes a “11 hour and 20 minute race”.

Where do I park? Free parking is available at Southeastway Park, however space is limited so please car pool. 

Route? 2020 route is a 2-mile loop. It is completely paved with no steps.  You may run on the grass next to the path if you prefer.

Packet Pick Up? At the park Friday afternoon.

Are spectators welcome? Yes!  They can cheer you on, give you supplies, or take naps...  However, if they want food, please Add On Spectator Pass during your registration.  $10/spectator allows them to be able to eat and drink with us.
