Saturday, August 2, 2025 Green Valley Lake 5k/10K/Half Marathon. ( Between Running Springs and Big Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains.)

7:30am HALF MARATHON START (7am start for slow half estimated to take over 3 3/4 hours. )

8:30am Mass Start for 5k/10K

Best course ever! Starts with a flat side of the lake on an out and back 3/4 mile lake view up Green Valley Lake Rd. with a left on Lakeside Dr. It then gradually ascends up Green Valley Lake Dr to a forest service road with a 400 foot climb to a rewarding overlook and the 5k turn around. The 10k and 1/2 Marathon continue on that beautiful forest service road 2N13 do an out an back along rolling terrain with pine trees and view overlooks. Course support and water stations every 1.5 miles out and back.

Come ENJOY a quaint, pristine mountain community, lake run with forest vista views. First 1.5 miles paved. The rest on forest service roads. Great views. Pines. Boulders. Beautiful terrain. The course takes you around the lake and up a gradual 400-foot elevation gain, climbing to an awesome overlook to make it just enough of a challenge. Proceeds will benefit the The Children’s Forest and the Southern California Mountains Foundation, a non-profit organization located in the San Bernardino National Forest. This spectacular 3,400-acre area of forest is preserved to provide opportunities for youth to take a leadership role in forest management by giving them a legitimate voice in caring for our local mountains. Through formal education and volunteer programs, the Children’s Forest has encouraged local kids to become Forest Rangers, Fire Fighters, Meteorologists, and Stewarts of the land. We aim to evoke a fascination with nature that continues for generations to come. 5k/10K/ HALF marathon ALL start with a flat half loop around the lake to this turn around view. (the first 3/4 mile of the course. ONLY THE MARATHON FINISHES with this loop on the way back. The 5k/10K come straight down Green Valley Lake Dr to the finish. This extra loop right before the HALF MARATHON finish is needed to make the 13.1 mile distance.

THE HEART OF THE HALF MARATHON COURSE. It's a hidden gem of a rock formation ...right on the the road you are running. Challenge you to FIND it and take a selfie with it.

Race Course Map

5K & 10K: Start the same direction and head up Green Valley Lake Road to a left on LAKESIDE Dr. First 3/4 mile are along the Lake and a flat warm up for a gradual grind back up Green Valley Lake Dr the forest Service Road 2N13. A moderate .5 mile climb (400 feet gain) takes you to an amazing viewpoint overlooking the San Bernardino Mountains, High Desert with a view of Lake Arrowhead. 5kers return to town. 10Kers are rewarded with another 1.55 miles of beautiful forest, rolling course with views and also returns back past the viewpoint to town.(BOTH 5k/10K DO NOT turn back on LAKESIDE DR, but proceed straight dwon Green Valley Lake to the FINISH. 10K COURSE - Extends 1.55 miles at the viewpoint on 2n13. Only the HALF MARATHON does the LAKESIDE DR loop again before it finishes.

5k Turns Around at the Helicopter dirt pad. Look for view over Lake Arrowhead! That's Mt Baldy across the way! 5k Runs straight back. Does not turn back on Lakeside Dr . Goes straight to finish on Green Valley Rd.

Same with 10K. Runs straight back to finish. The 10K turn around stays on 2n13 .

HALF MARATHON: STARTS with a flat warm up 3/4 mile onto LAKESIDE DR and back. Then gradually ascends up Green Valley Lake to 2N13, a service road with a 400 foot climb to a view point and water station...that continues the same route as the 10K, proceeding through the forest service gate to the three way Y below the the campground limits gate. At this point, your course turns left on 2N13 and heads toward Butler Peak and Fawnskin...put turns around at the highest point of the road (with a surprise 150 foot scramble trail to a viewpoint) and back. You will get water/aid stations at the 10k turnaround. (3.1 miles into your course and on the way back...and an aid station 5 miles in and at the half marathon turn around. So...there are 5 aid stations that you get...coming and going! It is a fully out and back course with your course going back by the 3/4 mile portion of the LAKESIDE DR, then back to finish. This is the first 3/4 mile LAKE LOOP at the start of the 5k/10K. And at the start and finish of the half marathon. THis is an OUT AND BACK course, running the entire route back.
