Description

Join families affected by histiocytosis in Yosemite for our 22nd and final hike as we take on two mighty challenges:
  • Raising $200,000 to help fund a cure for histiocytosis
  • Hike from Yosemite valley to "Histio Lookout" on the Clouds Rest trail
Both are hard. Fighting Histiocytosis is so much harder.  Together we can do it!

About the Hike

Please join us for our 22nd and final Hike For A Cure (H4AC) in Yosemite. You'll be part of a very special community of family and friends working together to raise funds to find a cure for histiocytosis.

Arrive in Yosemite on Friday or Saturday. Saturday afternoon you are invited to hear from the doctors we have funded as they provide details on their current research and the challenges ahead. Saturday night we'll gather for dinner at the Curry Village cafeteria, and then move to the amphitheater for the H4AC Opening presentation. As the final H4AC in Yosemite we will have many to thank for their support over the years, and so much to celebrate!

Sunday morning we leave before dawn to tackle one of Yosemite's most challenging hikes. With each step on the 17 mile journey we are reminded of the exhausting, seemingly never-ending journey faced by those fighting histiocytosis. The hike is hard - no doubt. Fighting histiocytosis is so much harder.

Sunday night over dinner we will relax and enjoy with our traditional soup and salad dinner, talk over the highlights of the day, and no doubt share many memories from our previous hikes. Finally on Monday we pack up and say goodbye to our histio friends. Once back at home, school or work you will have many stories to tell with your sponsors - not just about the hike itself, but also about the inspiring "Histio Heroes" and families that you met.

Our objective has always been to have a cure for histiocytosis in place by 2021 - twenty years after our first H4AC. We are proud to say that this community, in partnership with the Histio Cure Foundation and the researchers at Texas Children's Hospital, have reached this goal. We look forward to seeing you in Yosemite for this celebration of success!

Hike Weekend Detail

Departing before dawn and hiking 17 miles and 4800 vertical feet to Histio Lookout (our special spot on the Clouds Rest trail) in one day is an intense, physical challenge. Yet in the company of enthusiastic and determined friends, family and kids you may be quite surprised by what you can accomplish.

Our goal is to come together as a community to accomplish something bigger than what we could do working alone: surmount a daunting physical challenge and an equally tough financial goal. In joining us and achieving your own physical and fundraising goal you will be making a difference in your own life and the lives of those fighting histiocytosis.
