Volunteer Options for the 2023 Junaia P. Carter 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for this fun event! This event to support breast cancer research would not be able to happen without volunteers like you!
Volunteer options are on a first come, first served basis. Check out the options and descriptions below.
You may sign up for multiple volunteer slots as long as the times do not overlap. All volunteers will be sent a detailed email prior to race day.

Volunteer Options & Descriptions
Friday, October 27, 2023 – 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Early Shift Packet Pickup | Springfield Running Center (Outdoors)
Help distribute race day packets to registered participants.
Friday, October 27, 2023 – 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Late Shift Packet Pickup | Springfield Running Center (Outdoors)
Help distribute race day packets to registered participants.
**Race Day** Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 6:30 am – 8:00 am
General Race Set-Up | Washington Park
Help set up the race area at Washington Park. Including: setting out tables, cones, trashcans, placing race day signage, etc.
**Race Day** Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 7:45 am – 8:45 am
Packet Pickup | Washington Park
Help distribute race day packets to registered participants.
**Race Day** Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 8:00 am – 10:30 am
Course Marshals | Washington Park
You will be assigned a specific spot along the path of the race course. You will be cheering on participants and responsible for directing participants along the course, ensuring they are going in the right direction.

Bike Marshals | Washington Park
Responsible for leading and monitoring the course, ensuring participants health and safety. You would need to provide your own bicycle.

Water Station | Washington Park
Help fuel participants! Responsible for filling water cups and handing to participants as they pass by.

Refreshments – Prep & Serve | Washington Park
Help with setting up and distributing post-race snacks and water to participants. Locations will be at the finish line and under the pavilion.
**Race Day** Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 9:30 am – 11:30 am
Kids Fun Run | Washington Park
Help get kids to the starting line, help hand out finisher medals, be a cheerleader for the kids running, help at the finish line and help lead kids to the costume contest area.
**Race Day** Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
General Race Tear Down | Washington Park
Help collect cones and garbage cans, help break down tables, help pick up trash, etc.
