FAQs, Etiquette, and Tips

What is the Listening Walk? The Listening Walk at the Zoo is a fun and educational event at the Bronx Zoo.  The event was created to raise funds and create awareness for Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in New York.  Clarke teaches children who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen and talk.  Clarke School for the Deaf DBA Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the proceeds from this event benefit our New York school.   To learn more about Clarke, visit us online at clarkeschools.org.

Are registration fees tax-deductible? No. However, any amounts donated above registration fees paid are tax-deductible as permitted by law.  If you sign-up for an individual or team fundraising page, those donations by your friends and family are tax-deductible as permitted by law.

Can I dress up? We provide team t-shirts in various colors.  We highly encourage any added flair such as fun hats, wacky glasses, or anything animal themed!

I accidentally registered as an individual and meant to join a team. What can I do? No worries! If you would like to be added to a team, simply send an email to cdanese@clarkeschools.org with your name and the name of the team you would like to join. Team changes must be made by May 20, 2018.

Can I bring my dog? Good question! We recommend that you review the Bronx Zoo FAQs and Rules

Can I use a stroller?  Yes, however you will be asked to park it in designated areas in some of the Zoo environments.

What happens if it rains on event day? Clarke’s Listening Walk at the Zoo will be held rain or shine, warm or cold. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds; rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation.

What time should I arrive?   We recommend that you arrive between 8:00 am and 8:30am.

Still have a question or need help?  Please refer to the Bronx Zoo’s FAQs and Rules or contact the Event Coordinator:
