We continue to plan for a safe event and can't wait to see you back on the streets of Grand Rapids, October 23.     

Here are some things we've got in place (more specific details are coming):

  • We have moved outside
    • Packet Pickup will be on Calder Plaza, 351 Ottawa Avenue, NW 
      Thursday, October 21   3pm - 7pm
      Friday, October 22  11am - 8pm 
      Mini Expo will take place 11am -8pm 
    • No computers will be available for Late Registration on-site - please complete your registration at home or on your personal device
    • All race changes must be completed online by 11:59pm on Friday, October 15  (if you can't make a change within your account, email us by 11:59pm Friday, October 15 with details and we will make the change for you)
    • Deferring to 2022 can take place through your RunSignUp account by managing the registration until October 23.
  • NO Race Day Packet Pickup
    • Saturday morning  you will be able to pickup your Bib only at the tables setup on Monroe Avenue near Michigan under the DeVos Place overhang.   If you want your race t-shirt - please email us after the race and we will mail it to you.     The limited outdoor space cannot accommodate both Bib and t-shirt pickup on Saturday morning.  It is not ideal and we understand that, we hope that you can appreciate all that we have done to make the event happen in-person.
  • Because we've moved outside - we have limited space and cannot offer Gear Check, Event Hospitality or Two Hour Club Hospitality.  (Event Hospitality upgrades will be contacted)   
  • Reduced touch points throughout the event
    • Aid Stations - cups will be placed on tables by volunteers - participants to grab from tables 
      • For self carriers - the last table at each station will be for refills
      • 25Ker's will receive GU at packet pickup - there will not be GU on the course this year
    • Space throughout venues to provide for distancing, including packet pickup, expo and start, finish
    • Pre-packaged participant refreshments -  grab your Ice Mountain Water, Gatorade and Country Fresh Chocolate Milk - then grab the "to go" bag with other refreshments
    • Hand Sanitizer and Hand Washing Stations throughout the venue  (these have always been there - you just might not have noticed) 
  • Participation numbers have naturally stayed low throughout the country for races - we are not alone. 
    • There will be plenty of space at the start line for distancing at each event.  We encourage you to wear a mask at the start if distancing is not possible and masks will be available at the finish - However, masks are not required and we definitely DO NOT want you to think you need to wear one while running....    it's your decision and comfort level
    • The finish line will naturally have space - don't stop or congregate - just keep moving and connect with friends up on Calder Plaza or at another meeting location.  
  • Volunteers will be encouraged to wear a mask if they cannot distance themselves with the task they are completing - we will leave the decision to you.

    NOTE:
  • If you are deferred from 2020 and haven't claimed your 2020 deferral and registered for 2021, please follow the link in the deferred/reserve entry email that has been sent to you and register for 2021.  (Emails have been sent periodically since December 2020,  if you haven't received one - please check your SPAM folder and email us to resend)
  • If October 23 doesn't work in your schedule:   Transfer your current registration to our virtual race to receive your 2021 race swag or defer to 2022
  • If you were deferred from 2020, please email us to make that transfer to the virtual.  Otherwise, you can make the transfer directly from your RunSignUp account by managing your registration and selecting "transfer event" or "defer"

Description

Amway River Bank Run presented by Fifth Third Bank with Spectrum Health, the Official Health Partner,  is held  in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. There is  something for everyone!   

We are looking forward to 2021 and having the streets of Grand Rapids filled with the largest 25K road race in the country and the USA 25 km Open Championships.   We are hopeful and optimistic that we will be able to host a safe in-person event on our traditional second Saturday in May - postponed to October 23, 2021.    Join us and participate in one or multiple events which include a 25K Run,  25K Handcycle, 25K Wheelchair,  10K Run, 5K Run and 5K Community Walk.  

In addition to our in-person events, we offer virtual events that give individuals an opportunity to participate by completing the distance of their choice (25K, 10K, 5K, or 5K walk) on the course of their choice and day that works between May 1 and Oct 23.    Each virtual event offers extended finishing times (unlike the in-person course cutoffs) and having flexibility makes the Virtual Race a great option,  plus you receive all the commemorative RBR Race Swag.  

In 2021, the Amway River Bank Run will celebrate our 44th year running in Downtown Grand Rapids or virtually anywhere!
