The times listed are approximate, and you will be notified when your task and time frame has been assigned.

Please note: all Race Day volunteer positions have a start time of between as early as 5:00am and can last until 3pm, are outside and may require heavy lifting. If you have any restrictions, please list them in the comments on your registration. We appreciate your help and thank you for volunteering.

Two Hour Club Low Priority

Details

Friday - Volunteers in this area will work 2-3 hours to set up the Two Hour Club at River Outlook in DeVos Place. Duties include: arranging layout, moving supplies from loading docks to River Outlook area, and setting up for morning event.

Saturday - Finalize setup of the Two Hour Club. Duties include placing water and gatorade on tables, preparing and labeling boxes for gear check, placing gear in appropriate boxes, setting up banners, and ability to direct participants to restrooms and provide event information. Volunteers must be detail oriented, physically be able to stand, lift boxes up to 20 lbs, and have good customer service skills.

Participants will return have completing their event to retrieve their gear. It is important the participants receive their gear in an efficient manner. Peak times are 6:30am to 8:30am, then you may take a break to watch the race and return to finish up and tear down 10:30am to approximately 12:30pm returning all supplies to the loading docks at DeVos Place

Gear Check volunteers will assist race participants in checking their gear (dry clothes and personal items) on race morning. Gear is organized by event and bib number. Volunteers must be detail oriented, physically be able to stand, lift boxes up to 20 lbs, have customer service skills. Participants will return have completing their event to retrieve their gear. It is important the participants receive their gear in an efficient manner.

Volunteers in this area may be involved with the following task or additional tasks as directed:: set fencing and banners, record times with stop watches, set/move cones, hand out finisher medals, direct participants into the appropriate finish lanes and refreshment areas and congratulate participants on their huge accomplishment. Volunteers may also need to assist with participants seeking medical attention/directing to medical staff. Volunteers must be able to speak clearly, loudly and assertively and also listen to direction provided by police and security staff if needed.

Details

Volunteers in this area prepare and distribute food and drinks to the participants after they finish their events. Preparation includes (but not limited to) setting tables, moving cases of water, stocking tables, moving food to distribution tent, mixing Gatorade and handing out to participants, and assisting with Chocolate Milk distribution, managing trash and recycling, . In addition, volunteers will assist in cleanup throughout their shift that includes cleaning and drying coolers, food containers. trash cleanup. Volunteers are expected to be able to handle physical tasks listed above (or additional as needed) and be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Volunteer tasks in this area include (but not limited to) setting fencing, hanging banners, direct 25K, 10K and 5K participants to their proper starting positions and assist in keeping spectators out of the starting lanes, teardown of area, removal/rolling of mesh fencing, removal/stacking fencing, trash and discarding clothing pickup, etc. Volunteers must be able to speak clearly, loudly and assertively and also listen to direction provided by police and security staff if needed. Course Cone Crew will be responsible for setting cones on designated corners of the race course. Volunteers must be able to receive verbal instructions, follow cone layout maps, respond quickly, be able to walk the distance of the bridge and lift 25 lbs or more. Cone Crew will also stay stationed along the event course to help direct participants ensuring that they do not leave the official event route. Some assignments will require volunteers to assist participant transition through critical course locations. Cone Crew will also assist with picking up the No Parking Signs along the race route. This position requires volunteers to be at least 18 years of age and be able to speak clearly, loudly and assertively and also listen to direction provided by police and security staff if needed. You will be required to stay for full time of your volunteer shift.
