The times listed are approximate, and you will be notified when your task and time frame has been assigned.

Please note: all Race Day volunteer positions have a start time as early as 5:00 a.m. and can last until 3 p.m., are outside and may require heavy lifting. If you have any restrictions, please list them in the comments on your registration.

Volunteers distribute race numbers and t-shirts to all registered Amway Junior participants, assist parents with any late registrations to ensure accuracy of information, perform additional duties such as setup and tear down of the tables and chairs, setting out t-shirts and keeping race numbers organized. Volunteers must be detail oriented, physically be able to stand, lift boxes up to 20 lbs. and have good customer service skills.

Duties include, but not limited to, ensuring the inflatables are used in a safe and organized manner, monitoring the inflatable to avoid overcrowding, keeping the kids in lines for entering the inflatable and keeping the flow of traffic moving.

Two Hour Club Low Priority

Details

Friday - Volunteers in this area will work 2-3 hours to set up the Two Hour Club at River Outlook in DeVos Place. Duties include: arranging layout, moving supplies from loading docks to River Outlook area, and setting up for morning event.

Saturday - Finalize setup of the Two Hour Club. Duties include placing water and gatorade on tables, preparing and labeling boxes for gear check, placing gear in appropriate boxes, setting up banners, and ability to direct participants to restrooms and provide event information. Volunteers must be detail oriented, physically be able to stand, lift boxes up to 20 lbs, and have good customer service skills.

Participants will return have completing their event to retrieve their gear. It is important the participants receive their gear in an efficient manner. Peak times are 6:30am to 8:30am, then you may take a break to watch the race and return to finish up and tear down 10:30am to approximately 12:30pm returning all supplies to the loading docks at DeVos Place

Gear Check Medium Priority

Gear Check volunteers will assist race participants in checking their gear (dry clothes and personal items) on race morning. Gear is organized by event and bib number. Volunteers must be detail oriented, physically be able to stand, lift boxes up to 20 lbs, have customer service skills. Participants will return have completing their event to retrieve their gear. It is important the participants receive their gear in an efficient manner.

Password Required. Volunteers in this area will work in the Elite Hospitality Suite at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. They will be responsible for checking in the athletes when they arrive and keeping food and beverages stocked in the suite.

Volunteers in this area prepare and distribute food and drinks to the participants after they finish their events. Preparation includes (but not limited to) setting tables, moving cases of water, stocking tables, moving food to distribution tent, mixing Gatorade and handing out to participants, and assisting with Chocolate Milk distribution, managing trash and recycling, . In addition, volunteers will assist in cleanup throughout their shift that includes cleaning and drying coolers, food containers. trash cleanup. Some assignments will require volunteers to assist participant transition through critical course locations. Cone Crew will also assist with picking up the No Parking Signs along the race route. This group of volunteers have been assigned special tasks to be completed at various times in preparation of the race and report to the Operations Director. General details on tasks are as listed:

Press Truck Spotter: This task includes riding on the Press Truck and communicating with the driver to be aware of situations on the course (distance with lead runners, location of hand/wheel athletes, etc.)

Course Sign Placement - This task may include but not limited to placing Course Entertainment, Spirit Stations, Photo Op and Elite Water Station signs in designated locations - must have valid drivers license, ability to follow written instructions and electronic maps, complete tasks timely and efficiently, follow along with supply crew for pickup and return all signs to designated locations

Special Assignment - Elite Athlete Water Stations (password required)

Volunteer will be responsible for obtaining supplies from Operations Director and retrieving athlete water bottles from Elite Athlete suite in the Amway Grand Hotel early race morning, setup tables at the 3 designated water stations - male tables and then female, signage and water bottles in bib number order. Volunteer will be responsible for returning supplies to designated area. Volunteers will be required to stay in place until all 25K participants have cleared the area and roads are open to traffic.
