ABOUT DONALD DIXON

I, Crystal Irby am the proud daughter of Donald O. Dixon who was a husband, father, life-long educator, and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He grew up with humble beginnings in Council, NC on a farm where our family worked the land. His famous mantra was "plow to the end of the row." And he meant that in a farming aspect, as well as an educational one that he would share with thousands of students meaning never give up and keep going to the end. He was the first man I ever loved, my protector, my support system, and my hero. He and my mother inspired me to become an educator as well. For the last year I have watched him decline from dementia, Alzheimer's, and a broken hip until he departed this world on Christmas Eve of 2021. I will never be the same. I remember him telling me the story of how he wore a pink tie to work after I was born. He always called me his "darling." Losing both of my parents has left a huge hole in my life. But my job now is to continue to make them proud and for their legacy to live on through me and my brother. We couldn't have asked for better parents and they will be with us always.
