Course Setup
Course setup for the Mayfaire 5k is a collaboration between the City of Lakeland Traffic Dept, the Mayfaire by-the-lake art festival, and the Lakeland Runners Club.
The east side of Lake Morton is completely closed for the Mayfaire by-the-lake art festival and traditionally, the west side has one lane closed and protected with cones. We won't know exactly how this year will be set up until the show is prepped on Friday evening.
City of Lakeland traffic has been hired to place some barricades on Main St, but we need to double check that they are there and get moved into position at 6:30 PM. They will also place cones along every street intersecting with Success (these will likely be in place Saturday morning for us to preview).
We need to place cones and cone extenders at every parking lot exit/entrance along the course. Volunteers will then use these to help close the course.
We also need to set cones down the center line of Iowa & Success as shown on the certified course map.
One place we have to remember to look is at Lemon & Iowa to make sure we have something there to signal that Lemon is closed!
Once the roads close at 6:30 PM, the final step will be to set the cones at Lake Morton so they help direct runners.
We can start the teardown right behind the runners starting at Catapult up to the Magnolia Building, then wait at E Park St and Success until the sweeper comes through and then pick up behind them.
