INSIDE THE GATE
Enter Lake Louisa State Park off U.S. Highway 27 and everything is inside the park — the start, the course, parking, cabins, the campground, and three major lakes: Louisa, Hammond, and Dixie.
You don't leave for the weekend. Arrive, and stay. Sleep in a cabin on Dixie Lake or at the campground, and race morning starts inside the gate. No hotel. No morning drive. Camp. Run. Repeat.
GATE AND PARK ENTRY
The gate opens to participants at 6:00 AM on race mornings. Park admission is $5, paid at the ranger station. Have a $5 bill ready for the fastest entry — credit cards are accepted, but slower. Or buy a Lake Louisa State Park single-day pass online on race morning; it must be for Lake Louisa and is valid only the day you buy it.
GETTING HERE
Enter at 7305 U.S. Highway 27, Clermont. Follow RACE PARKING signs to the event fields between the Hitching Post and the campground. The start/finish is at the Hitching Post.
THE PARK
Rolling hills on the edge of the Lake Wales Ridge. Eleven natural communities. Deer, gopher tortoises, bald eagles, and osprey. Canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals at the Dixie Lake Outpost, plus bike rentals, through the park's concessionaire. Run in the morning. Paddle Dixie Lake in the afternoon.
THE TRAILS
Twenty miles of unpaved multi-use trails wind through the park — rolling hills, cypress swamp, and scrub forest. Explore them while you're here. See the trail map.
MileBuilt trail runs may follow.
