Newtown Community Road Race – Race Day Logistics
The Newtown Community Road Race at the historic Fairfield Hills Campus is just a few days away! We are thrilled to welcome you to the starting line and celebrate our community together.
To ensure you have a smooth, stress-free race day, please review the essential logistics below.
Packet Pickup Schedule & T-Shirts
We highly recommend picking up your packet on Friday or Saturday to avoid race-morning lines!
- Friday: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Sunday (Race Day): 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Location: Fairfield Hills Campus, at the corner of Keating Farms Ave and D G Beers Boulevard
T-Shirt Policy: Participants who registered on time are guaranteed their selected shirt size. For all other participants, we cannot promise your preferred size; remaining shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sunday Race Day Timeline & Start Times
Please note the scheduled warm-up window, early start options, and unified main race start time:
- 6:00 AM – Race-day Packet Pickup opens
- 7:15 AM – Kids' Free Run Start
- 7:15 AM – 7:25 AM – Pre-Race Stretch & Warm-Up Session
- 7:30 AM – Half Marathon Early Start
- 8:00 AM – Official Main Start (5K, 10K, & Half Marathon Regular Start) & Packet Pickup closes
Parking & Arrival
Main Parking Lot: Reed Intermediate School (3 Trades Lane, Newtown, CT).
Transit: Reed Intermediate School sits right on the Fairfield Hills Campus, allowing for a short, easy walk directly to the starting line area. Volunteer parking attendants and signs will direct you into the school lots upon arrival.
- Kids' Run, Warm-Up, & Early Starters: Please arrive by 6:45 AM to allow plenty of time to park, complete check-in, and get to the starting line area
- Main Field Starters (8:00 AM): Please arrive between 7:00 AM – 7:15 AM to avoid traffic congestion entering the school campus
Half Marathon Specifics
Course Cutoff Reminder: All half-marathoners must be back on the Fairfield Hills Campus by 11:30 AM.
Course Maps, Aid Stations, & Perks
- Course Maps: You can view the official course routes for all distances directly on our RunSignUp race page. Please note that this is a hilly course, so plan your pacing strategy accordingly
- On-Course Support: To keep you on track and motivated, the course will feature clear signage, mile markers painted on the road, dedicated course marshals, and official pacers
- Water Stations: Maintained at regular intervals throughout the course—spaced less than 2 miles apart—to keep you hydrated
- Post-Race Festival: Be sure to stick around after you cross the finish line to check out our local vendor area and celebrate your achievement with the community
