Wyoming Valley Striders 44th Annual Winter's End 4.5 Mile Run

Race Day
- Pre-entry packet pick-up will begin at 9:30 am at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in the Commons on campus.
Start
- Race start is at 11:00 am.
- Race will be chip timed.
Course
- Our race features a scenic rolling hills 4.5 mile course in the Lehman area near Penn State, Wilkes-Barre.
Note
- If the race is cancelled due to any directives by the PA Governor, the hosted facility, or the WVS, 2024 pre-entries will be deferred to next year. No refunds will be given.
- This race is open to anyone. You do not need to be a WVS member to run. You can however become a member or renew your membership during the checkout process. Online memberships are $12 per year. Membership cards are sent within a week of receipt or given race day if received 14 days prior to event or not yet expired.
- Non-members can purchase for $12 a membership in the store and then receive an email reply with the race discount code to use during race registration.
- The race directors reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.
Vince Wojnar Triple Crown
The Wyoming Valley Striders Vince Wojnar Triple Crown consists of in-person 2024 races for our Winter’s End 4.5 Mile Run (March 17), Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run (May 5), and the 20K Run (November 10).
Cash and participation prizes to be awarded! Every runner who runs and finishes in all three races qualifies for a commemorative Frank Shorter microfiber windbreaker jacket. See series website for more info.

Spectator Information
Roads are narrow. No spectator vehicles are allowed on the course during the race. Spectators may view the race from the start/finish area, the parking lot areas, and also from the turnaround point near the intersection next to Lake Lehman High School.

How to get there
Directions to the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus at Lehman: from the Wilkes-Barre area, take the North Cross-Valley Expressway (Route 309) and proceed north towards Dallas. At the end of the divided highway, turn left at the first traffic light (Hillside Road) and follow the signs to the campus (approx. 5 1/2 miles); from Berwick, follow Route 11 to West Nanticoke and take Route 29 to Route 118. Turn right on Route 118 and follow it until you see the sign for the Penn State University Campus.
