Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation Board is hosting the 12th annual Yardley 5k.  The run begins in the heart of Yardley Borough and includes River Road along the Delaware River and along the Delaware Canal Towpath.

Race fee includes a t-shirt to all participants that register by May 3, 2021.

Awards - First Place Overall Male; First Place Overall Female, plus gender specific age groups as follows: 14 & under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 plus. Age group awards will be based on elapsed time, not order of finish.  

Walkers and strollers are welcome in this race and we ask that you start at the back. 

You must finish within 40 minutes for your time to count towards an award.  There is a 50 minute course limit for this race.

Covid-19 race protocols will be in place, which include:

  • No day of registration
  • Limited runners to no more than 200.
  • Runners are the only ones allowed to enter the race area, no friends or family.
  • All runners will be at least 6 feet apart to maintain social distancing prerace.
  • Runners will receive a waiver via emailed the day before the race - to attest that they have not exhibited any Covid-19 symptoms as indicated on the CDC website.
  • The race will use a wave start at the rate of 2 people per 10 seconds to ensure that all distancing requirements are met.
  • Participants are asked to carry their own hydration.  There will be no water stop.
  • Porta potties will be available in Buttonwood Park - with lines marked so people will wait six feet apart.  Porta-potties will be position 6 feet apart.
  • After runners cross the finish line, there will be bottled water available.  
  • There will be no award ceremony after the race.  Awards will be distributed at a later date or shipped to the winner's address.
  • Participants are expected to leave the race area when finished.   

    5K Walk and Run Bib Pick-up:
    Runners that registered for the 5k can pick up their bibs (and t-shirt if you requested one before May 3) on:

    ·      Monday, May 31st from 8:30am-9:30am after the Memorial Main Street Mile finish line – Yardley Friends Meeting House.

    ·      Saturday, June 5th  between 9:00am and noon at the Yardley Farmer's Market in Buttonwood Park. A limited number of t-shirts will be for sale - $10.00.

    ·      Saturday, June 5th between 4:00 – 6:00pm in Buttonwood Park. A limited number of t-shirts will be for sale - $10.00.

    ·      Race morning -  Sunday, June 6th  between 7:30am - 8:20am at Buttonwood Park. 

    Medal Pick-up:
    Runners that qualify with an award-winning time will be notified via email.  Medals will be available for pick-up at the Saturday, June 12 between 9:00am and noon at the Yardley Farmer's Market in Buttonwood Park. 

    Two Porta-Potties will be available at in Buttonwood Park for race participants – spaced 6 feet apart, with hand sanitizer available.

    Race Start: 
    Since Covid restrictions for outside events have been eased – the timer will have a mass start for those who feel comfortable doing that.  For those that are not comfortable being part of a large group, the timer will keep the start line open for 4-5 minutes.

    COVID-19 Home Safety Self Check:
    We ask that all participants ensure they are symptom free on race day using the Covid-19 Home Safety Self Check – below.  We will send an email reminder, the evening before the race. 
    Covid-19 Home Safety Self Check:

    1)     Have you had close contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days?

    2)     Do you have a temperature greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit?

    3)     Have you experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms in the last 14 days or any 2 of the following symptoms? 

    a)     Cough

    b)     Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

    c)     Fever

    d)     Chills

    e)     Repeated shaking with chills

    f)      Muscle pain

    g)     Headache

    h)     Sore throat

    i)       New loss of taste or smell

    If you can answer no to all questions listed above, please come and race with us! 

    If you Cannot Race due to Covid-19

    Registered for the Memorial Main Street Mile?
    Runners you can pick-up your race bib (and t-shirt if you requested one before May 3) on:

    ·      Saturday, May 29th between 9:00am and noon at the Yardley Farmer's Market in Buttonwood Park.  

    ·      Race morning -  Monday, May 31 - Memorial Day -  between 7:00am - 7:50am near the start line at Wells Fargo Bank in Yardley Borough near the Yardley Train Station.




Race Course:
The race course begins on West Afton (at Starbucks), heads east toward the River along Afton Avenue to River Road. The course the heads north along River Road with views of the Delaware River. After continuing for approximately 1.25 miles going under the Scudder Falls Bridge, the course turns left onto Woodside Avenue and then left again onto the Delaware Canal Towpath for approximately 1 mile. The towpath will become Edgewater Road and the course continues on Edgewood Road until the intersection of Brown Street. The course goes left onto Brown until it dead ends at River Road. The course then heads south on River Road and then back west on to Afton Avenue.  Continuing on to Afton Avenue to the finish line at the start - outside of Starbucks.
