Description

Race Sponsor: Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation Board is hosting the 13th annual Yardley 5k.  The run begins in the heart of Yardley Borough and includes River Road along the Delaware River and along the Delaware Canal Towpath.

Awards, fees, and t-shirts: Race fee includes a t-shirt to all participants that register by April 22, 2022.

Awards: First Place Overall Male; First Place Overall Female, plus gender specific age groups as follows: 14 & under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 plus. Age group awards will be based on elapsed time, not order of finish.  

Walkers and strollers are welcome, and we ask that you start at the back.

You must finish within 40 minutes for your time to count towards an award.  There is a 50-minute course limit for this race.

5K Walk and Run Bib Pick-up: Runners that registered for the 5k can pick up their bibs (and t-shirt if you requested one before April 22, 2022) on:

  • Saturday, May 21st between 9:00am and noon at the Yardley Farmer's Market in Buttonwood Park. A limited number of t-shirts will be for sale - $10.00.
  • Saturday, May 21st between 4:00 – 6:00pm in Buttonwood Park. A limited number of t-shirts will be for sale - $10.00.
  • Race morning - Sunday, May 22nd between 7:30am - 8:20am at Buttonwood Park.

Runners you can pick-up your race bib (and t-shirt if you requested one before April 22, 2022) on:

  • After the Yardley 5k Walk and Run in Buttonwood Park between 9:30am-10:30am (Sunday, May 22, 2022)
  • Saturday, May 28th between 9:00am and noon at the Yardley Farmer's Market in Buttonwood Park.
  • Race morning - Monday, May 30 - Memorial Day - between 7:00am - 7:50am at the start line at Wells Fargo Bank in Yardley Borough (near Yardley Train Station).

Award Medal Pick-up: Runners that qualify with an award-winning time will be notified via email.  Medals will be available for pick-up at the Saturday, May 28 between 9:00am and noon at the Yardley Farmer's Market in Buttonwood Park.

Restrooms: Two Porta-Potties will be available at in Buttonwood Park for race participants – spaced 6 feet apart, with hand sanitizer available.

Race Start: Depending on Covid- 19 restrictions for outside events, the timer will either have a wave start or if appropriate, a mass start for those who feel comfortable followed by an open start line for 4-5 minutes for those that are not comfortable being part of a large group.

Race Course: The race course begins on West Afton (at Starbucks), heads east toward the River along Afton Avenue to River Road. The course the heads north along River Road with views of the Delaware River. After continuing for approximately 1.25 miles going under the Scudder Falls Bridge, the course turns left onto Woodside Avenue and then left again onto the Delaware Canal Towpath for approximately 1 mile. The towpath will become Edgewater Road and the course continues on Edgewood Road until the intersection of Brown Street. The course goes left onto Brown Street until it dead ends at River Road. The course then heads south on River Road and then back west on to Afton Avenue. Continuing on to Afton Avenue to the finish line at the start - outside of Starbucks. 

Covid -19 Protocols: Covid-19 race protocols may be in place, which will include:

  • Runners are the only ones allowed to enter the race area, no friends or family.
  • Runners will receive a waiver via emailed the day before the race - to attest that they have not exhibited any Covid-19 symptoms as indicated on the CDC website.
  • Participants are asked to carry their own hydration.  
  • There will be no water stop.
  • Porta potties will be available in Buttonwood Park - with lines marked so people will wait six feet apart.  Porta-potties will be position 6 feet apart.
  • After runners cross the finish line, there will be bottled water available.
  • There will be no award ceremony after the race.  Awards will be distributed later or shipped to the winner's address.
  • Participants are expected to leave the race area when finished.

COVID-19 Home Safety Self Check:
We ask that all participants ensure they are symptom free on race day using the Covid-19 Home Safety Self Check – below. We will send an email reminder, the evening before the race.

Covid-19 Home Safety Self Checklist:

  1. Have you had close contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
  2. Do you have a temperature greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit?
  3. Have you experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms in the last 14 days or any 2 of the following symptoms?
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Repeated shaking with chills
    • Muscle pain
    • Headache
    • Sore throat
    • New loss of taste or smell

If you can answer no to all questions listed above, please come and race with us!
