On March 22, 2017, Detective Jason T. Weiland, age 40, of Kronenwetter died in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance call and multiple person shooting in Marathon County, Wisconsin, where 3 other victims lost their lives. Detective Weiland was a graduate of Wausau West High School in 1995, and NTC in 1998. He started his career in law enforcement in 1999, and served the last 15 years as a police officer and detective with the Everest Metropolitan Police Department.  Detective Weiland was a Packer fanatic, who also enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. Detective Weiland was a proud husband, father, and police officer, and his legacy will forever be one of bravery and courage. This community hero is will be deeply missed by all.  Survivors include his wife Kara and their two daughters Ella and Anna.
