The Swamp Rabbit Marathon (formerly called "The Carolina Marathon", and the "Spinx Marathon" before that) has been around since 2006. The race began using the Swamp Rabbit Trail in 2010 and has been using the trail as its backbone ever since. The reason is simple. There's just practically no way to create a relatively flat marathon course in Greenville without using the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
