Carpooling - Park Entry Fee
Updated Info!
Fall at Staunton is often wildly busy, especially on nice days. Parking can be limited, even when we reserve the lot. We encourage you to carpool for several reasons: 1) Emissions are a problem here in CO, so fewer drivers is good for the environment; and, 2) since we are supporting public lands, the more we can do the better.
Staunton State Park charges a per car fee for entering the park, currently $10/car. We've just discussed all this with the Park and will be trying something new this year:
1). If you are running and you carpool, with another runner (that part is important), you will not pay to enter the Park. Volunteers also do not pay the fee - we cover that for you.
2) If you drive yourself and do not carpool with another runner or runners, even if there are other folks in the car (i.e. family), you'll pay the $10 entry fee.
3) Help us do better and lower our impact: Connect up with other runners and share the ride to the Park, and avoid that cost. Someone to talk to, hold your coffee cup, navigate.....All good.
