CCVI Trolley Run

April 27, 2025 Kansas City, MO 64114 US

The Reason for the Run

MEET CCVI

For nearly 75 years, Children's Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) has been preparing blind and visually impaired children for success in the sighted world. Trolley Run is the largest annual fundraiser for CCVI. All funds raised from the race go toward critical programming at the center. Donations from the Trolley Run are critical to our success.

OUR MISSION

To prepare children with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities, to reach their highest potential in the sighted world.

OUR VISION

Empowered children, who thrive in an equitable system of support, regardless of their visual impairment.

Who We Run For

CCVI serves over 300 children with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilitiesannually from birth through school age. Through a variety of programs, all of which are specialized toward children with visual impairments, we seek to empower and support children to reach their highest potential in the sighted world.

All programs, such as our Early Intervention Program, Out-patient therapy, or Mobile Outreach Vision Education (MOVE) Program, are customized on a case-by-case basis based on the needs of each individual child.

Led by specialized teachers and therapists, CCVI has conducted over 7,960 hours of therapy and driven 96,257 miles to reach children and families where they are this past year alone. Expanding from the heart of the Midwest to the Colorado-Kansas border to the Missouri-Illinois border, no student is out of reach.

While over 52% of our families live at or below the poverty line, CCVI finds ways to reach and ensure kids in our community who are underserved receive high quality vision services.

The Trolley Run is the largest annual fundraiser event for Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired. Since 1952, CCVI has provided a comprehensive program to 13,000+ students including specialized instruction, individualized therapy, and family education while fostering community awareness. Trolley Run is more than a race, it's a mission.
