2026 RRRC Annual Banquet
200 spots left. Registration ends March 5, 2026 at 11:59pm EST
A Year in Motion. A Night to Celebrate.
Join the Richmond Road Runners Club for an evening of connection, celebration, and reflection as we come together to celebrate the past year and the collective impact of our community.
While we will continue to recognize our Grand Prix finalists and award recipients, this year’s banquet is intentionally designed for All RRRC Members. It is an opportunity to step off the race course and gather as a community, to celebrate accomplishments, learn more about what the club achieved throughout the year, and see how we continue to grow in support of our nonprofit mission.
Throughout the evening, we will share a highlights on how RRRC supports the Richmond community through races, training teams, education, grants, scholarships, volunteerism, and partnerships. Events like this allow us not only to celebrate, but also to better understand the impact each member, volunteer, and participant has made.
Guest Speaker
We are excited to welcome Jon Lugbill, former Executive Director of Sports Backers, as our featured speaker. Jon has played a transformative role in shaping Richmond’s running and endurance community, and we look forward to hearing his perspective on community, leadership, and the power of sport.
Before retiring last year, Jon served as Executive Director of Sports Backers for 32 years, leading a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring active living across the Richmond region. During his tenure, he helped revitalize the Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon and led the creation of hallmark events including Dominion Energy Riverrock, Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K, the CarMax Tacky Light Run, and more than a dozen additional annual events. Under his leadership, the organization built some of the nation’s largest training teams, launched a kids fitness program reaching tens of thousands of participants, delivered 60 free fitness classes each week in underserved communities, and advanced active-transportation advocacy, most notably the 43-mile Fall Line Trail, along with other bike and pedestrian infrastructure projects.
As an athlete, Jon is a five-time individual and seven-time team world champion in whitewater canoe slalom and placed fourth at the 1992 Olympic Games. As a runner, he set a school record in the 600-yard run at Greenbriar Elementary in 1973, ran across the Grand Canyon in 2009, and completed his first CarMax Richmond Half Marathon and first Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K in 2025. His honors include induction into the Sports Events and Tourism National Hall of Fame, the International Whitewater Hall of Fame, and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
