Barr Trail Mountain Race

Help make the announcer's job run smoothly and efficiently by spotting runners and their bib numbers. After accessing the runners' information, you will then relay the information to the announcer.

Cheer on runners as they reach their goal at the finish line! The finish line volunteers will welcome and assist runners, if needed, as they complete their race and cross the finish line. Additional miscellaneous tasks may include forming a running lane with cones, relaying bib numbers to the announcer, cleaning and sweeping the course of debris, etc.

Barr Trail trailhead, Manitou Springs

The responsibilities of these volunteers include organizing race shirts and ensuring that every runner that finishes under the cut-off time goes home with their hard earned BTMR t-shirt! Leftover shirts will also need to be boxed at the conclusion of the race.

Volunteers may also be asked to man the swag table.

Soda Springs Park, Manitou Springs

Runners appreciate a little celebratory food after their race. Volunteers will set up the service area, prep and serve runner food and drinks. The area will also need to be taken down/cleaned up after the event.

Soda Springs Park, Manitou Springs

Runners will be looking forward to celebrating their accomplishment with a cold beer. Beer Garden volunteers will be responsible for checking runners' wristbands as well as pouring and distributing beer. Volunteers will also be responsible for take down and clean up of the area.

With a thorough understanding of the race course, these volunteers will direct runners to keep them safe along the the course. Course marshals will also need to stop pedestrian and/or vehicle traffic to allow runners to cross pathways and/or streets. Long periods of standing is required.

Barr Trail

This highly important position ensures customer service to our runners. One pair of volunteers will be responsible for directing runners to parking areas in Memorial Park and additional parking venues. They will also direct runners to the race start area. Other volunteers will responsible for re-directing Ruxton Ave. traffic and preventing vehicles from interfering with the race and to ensure runner safety.

The operations crew is an integral part of any race. Volunteers for the "whole operations bundle" are interested in and have the time to commit to all or most of the pre-race day and race day tasks. (See "Race Operations" for pre-race, set-up and race day tasks.)

The Operations Lead will contact volunteers with schedule details and offer flexible work shifts.

Become involved with the backbone of race preparation and set-up. Volunteers will be needed on the Saturday before race day to prep supplies and equipment.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Picking up and preparing race day trucks
- Retrieving, cleaning and sanitizing water tanks
- Installing signs at the race site
- Transporting supplies to the aid stations

Volunteers will set up and disassemble the start line, then transport equipment to the finish line area. They will then set up, disassemble the finish line and transport all equipment for storage.

Are you a detail oriented person? Bib labeling volunteers will be affixing participant data labels and timing chips onto race bibs.This position requires attention to detail.

Pikes Peak Marathon Office, 441 Manitou Ave., Manitou Springs

Be the first to see how the race begins! Volunteers will distribute race bibs, provide race information and answer questions. Responsibilities also include set up, take down and clean up of the distribution area. This position requires some light lifting (up to 30 lbs.).

The Colorado Running Company and the start line on race day Ruxton Ave. across from the Cog Railway station

Volunteer will pickup the timing equipment (approx 20lb backpack) from the start line and then hike to the split location, 1.9 miles into the race course.

After setting it up, the volunteer will monitor the equipment to make sure it works during the event.

After the last runner passes, they will pack it all up and then head to the finish line and then the after party.

Leads, coordinators and leadership who will be leading race activities during the BTMR are requested to register.
